The art auction held by the Rotary Club of Lawrence to benefit
mostly Lawrence High School and Central Catholic High School was a
huge success with almost 100 art lovers in attendance.
The Rotary Club of Lawrence, founded in 1920, consists of over
80 men and women representing the business community. Over the
past 12 months, the Lawrence Rotary has donated $54,000 in
scholarships, grants, fund-raising and awards to the people of
Lawrence and the non-profit organizations who serve them. Over the
past 10 years, they have raised over $350,000 for our community
and its service organizations.
“Thanks to the many people who attended this event, we made $2,500
for scholarships,” said John Felci, presidentelect of the Lawrence
Rotary Club.
Every Spring a committee made up by members of the Rotary Club
offer scholarships to Lawrence high school students to further
their education or to middle school students who wish to attend
private schools like Presentation of Mary or Central Catholic.
Rotary represents a cross-section of the community’s business and
professional men and women. The world’s Rotary clubs meet weekly
and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures,
races, and creeds.
“The only thing we are lacking is members from the
Spanish-speaking community; we have some but we would like to have
many more representing this large segment of the community,” said
Mr. Felci adding that any interested person should go to their w e
b s i t e www.rotarylawrence.com and email to him.
This function was held at Sal’s Restaurant and Conference Center
on the Riverwalk.
