Every Monday afternoon, girls from Lawrence’s new Esperanza
Academy volunteer at the Merrimack Valley YMCA’s Lawrence Branch.
They volunteer reading to children, helping with craft projects,

Last week, the middle school girls planned a holiday project for
the children: creating button wreaths that the children can take
home as holiday gifts for their family. Integral to the Academy’s
curriculum is community service. “We are so pleased Esperanza
Academy has partnered with us. The excitement and positive
attitude of the young women is an inspiration to all. We look
forward to their weekly visits with our children,” said Francis J.
Kenneally, YMCA District Executive Director. |
