“This is another sign that Lawrence is coming back,” said Mayor Michael J. Sullivan at the ground breaking ceremony of a new construction going up on Essex Street, held on Friday, March 17, 2006.

Four Seasons Association, lead by Developer Eduard Shenker made public his intentions of building a three-story building on 400-404 Essex Street, former location of The Blue Bonnet Restaurant.

According to Shenker, the 2nd and 3rd floors will be residential, with 1 and 2 bedrooms condominiums for a total of 8. The street level space will be for commercial use. “I don’t have any tenants, yet,” said Shenker.

Shenker, a first generation of Russian Immigrant said that he has been involved with several old building renovation projects since his arrival to Lawrence in 1977. Finally, he decided to join a group interested in reviving Essex Street. “Once a vibrant street, I have the vision that it’s coming back again,” said Shenker.
